Belgian Beer Café Eyes U.S. expansion

Sept. 10, 2012
The concept will open at ATL later this month and another at EWR next month

The first Belgian Beer Café in the United States is slated to open Sept. 20 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to Shanken News Daily.

After the opening, the café concept would open full-service locations next spring in New York City and Port Chester, NY, with additional units planned for New York City and Philadelphia later in 2013.

Creneau International NV, a Belgian concept and design agency, holds the licensing and franchise rights in the United States and Canada. Currently, Belgian Beer Cafés is present in 50 cities spread out over 19 countries.

The second travel venue of the café will also be opened at Newark Liberty International Airport in early October.

Creneau marketing manager Filip Janssen says the beer selection at the two New York venues will be similar to that of the other 60 Belgian Beer Café locations around the world -- about 60 different Belgian brews, representing styles such as abbeys, ambers, fruits, gueuzes, lagers, trappists and wheats.
