PennDOT grant funds to benefit local airports

Under the PennDOT aviation grant program, airports in Beaver, Allegheny and Lawrence counties will be granted funds for development and repairs.

PennDOT s aviation development program s $3.7 million grant funds targets smaller, public-use airports. The program is financed by the state s jet fuel tax and local matching money. Zelienople Municipal Airport in Beaver County will be granted $397,500 to continue an extension of the airport s access road and improvements in the hangar area. Allegheny County Airport will receive $1.1 million, to rehabilitate electrical infrastructure in the public parking lot and enhance power generation capacity for night operations. New Castle Municipal Airport of Lawrence County is to receive $315,000 to remove trees that blocks the approach area.
