Changi Airport's July passenger traffic up 4.5 percent

Singapore's Changi Airport witnessed that the number of passenger at the airport surged 4.5 percent on a yearly basis to 4.36 million in July 2012, the airport operator said in a statement.

In July, airport handling of aircraft grew 4.6 percent on-year to 27,100 take-offs and landings, said the Changi Airport Group.

The Group on Wednesday said in a statement that the traffic to and from the Americas, the Middle East and Southwest Pacific continued to be strong to record double-digit growth.

However, traffic to and from Northeast Asian and Southeast Asian was less, the company said adding that it was in the low single digits. These two regions account for around 70 percent of total passengers flow.

The Changi Airport Group further said that on a rolling year basis, passenger traffic at the airport increased 10.3% on a yearly basis to 49.3 million.

The airport cargo handling in the month grew 4.5 percent on-year to 152,900 tons, said the company.
