Flight Tests Commence for MRJ’s PurePower PW1200G Engine

The PW1217G for the 90-seat MRJ90 flew on a specially designed stub wing aboard Pratt & Whitney’s Boeing 747SP flying test bed from Pratt & Whitney’s Mirabel Aerospace Center, in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada.


Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation is pleased to announce that the first flight of Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower® PW1200G engine for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) took place on April 30 (EDT). The PW1217G for the 90-seat MRJ90 flew on a specially designed stub wing aboard Pratt & Whitney’s Boeing 747SP flying test bed from Pratt & Whitney’s Mirabel Aerospace Center, in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada.

The MRJ is the next-generation regional aircraft currently under development by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation. Featuring Pratt &Whitney’s game-changing PurePower engine along with state-of-the-art aerodynamic design, the MRJ will offer game-changing competitiveness and profitability for the world’s airlines and regional operators.
