Delta Upgrades Plane On Some Flights
Delta Air Lines plans to upgrade some flights from Dane County Regional Airport to larger, two-class aircraft, effective July 11.
Routes that will be affected include Detroit, Atlanta and Minneapolis. The change will mean the elimination of some 50-seat, single-class regional jets.
The upgraded flights will use Airbus A319, McDonnell Douglas MD-90 and Canadair Regional Jet 900 aircraft, all featuring two-class seating and in-flight Internet access.
"We are extremely pleased that Delta has decided to upgrade these aircraft for our customers traveling to and from Madison," airport director Bradley Livingston said. "Two-class service is important to our business and leisure travelers, and Delta responded with these equipment changes."
As part of the change, Delta is adding some flights in Madison, and the number of available outbound seats will increase by 7 percent, compared with last July, said airport spokesman Brent McHenry.
Also on Wednesday, Dane County Regional Airport reported a 17 percent increase in total passenger traffic for February, compared with 2011. For the month, 112,408 passengers flew in or out of Madison. Year to date, passenger traffic is up 7 percent compared to the first two months of 2011.
