Lakeland, FL, March 28, 2012 – Build A Plane announced a very important campaign called Kids Across America at a special news conference at Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland, FL. The new program encourages kids to find sponsors for every mile they travel to reach AirVenture, 2012 in Oshkosh, WI. The kid who raises the most money wins a complete Private Pilot course from Red Bird Flight Simulations. Runners up can win other prizes like a week vacation to the Bahamas from Air Journey or a $1000 scholarship from AOPA.
“Kids Across America is a great program because it gives kids a chance to help kids,” said Build a Plane president Lyn Freeman. “And the prizes that have been donated for the kids to win are incredible!”
Just like athletes who raise money for every mile they run or bike or swim, Kids Across America will fund new Build A Plane youth aviation education programs across the United States. Any means of travel to the Oshkosh fly-in qualifies for the program. All monies raised by kids and donated to Build A Plane is tax deductible.
“And the grand prize from Redbird Flight Simulation is an incredible opportunity,” said Build A Plane executive director Katrina Bradshaw. “All the aircraft rental, flight instructor fees and world class simulator time is all included!” The one week vacation to the Bahamas allows a family to fly their airplane to three different hotel/resorts. Room, transfers, flight plans and eAPIS are all provided by Air Journey.
Build A Plane has been operating since 2003 and is an IRS-approved 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Build A Plane solicits aircraft donations then redirects those airplanes to school across America. More than 200 real airplanes have already been placed. Build A Plane creates the opportunity for kids to learn science, technology, math and engineering by building or refurbishing a real airplane. Kids Across America is designed to significantly increase Build A Plane’s outreach.
The Kids Across America contest continues from now until high noon on Saturday, July 28th. To register log onto BuildAPlane.org or call 804-843-3321 to learn more.
KidVenture at AirVenture 2011 allows young people to explore aviation from several different fronts.
