WINSTON-SALEM, NC--(Marketwire - Jan 18, 2012) - Piedmont Propulsion Systems LLC (PPS), a wholly owned subsidiary of First Aviation Services Inc., announced the addition of the Q400 platform to their portfolio of propeller capabilities.
PPS has obtained FAA approval to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the Dowty R408 composite propeller system for the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. The Dowty R408 propeller is an advanced six-blade system, designed specifically for the highly successful Q400 regional turboprop.
PPS has overhauled over 6,000 composite propeller blades including those manufactured by Dowty and Hamilton Sundstrand. "We are constantly seeking ways to enhance our service offerings to regional and military operators and provide new and exciting capabilities."
The expansion into the Q400 propeller system is a natural extension of PPS's repair technology and capabilities. Over 383 Q400s have been delivered by Bombardier and PPS will be the first major independent MRO facility in the world with the capability.
