The Regional Airline Association (RAA) Safety Council unanimously elected Brad Elstad, Republic Airways Vice President-Safety and Regulatory Compliance, as the new Chairman and Brad Sheehan, Atlantic Southeast Airlines Director of Safety, as the new Vice Chairman.  Both will serve a two-year term on the RAA-organized Council, effective January 1, 2012.

The RAA Safety Council meets twice annually to discuss key safety issues critical to passenger and employee safety. The Council’s purview includes airline flight operations and ground safety, maintenance, ramp, security, hazardous goods and emergency response.

“Having just completed a very successful three-day meeting at the US Airways Flight Training Center in Phoenix last week with both the Safety Council and the Regional Operations Council (ROC), RAA is pleased to announce that the group will be led by these two very experienced leaders,” said Scott Foose, RAA Senior Vice President, Operations and Safety.  “The Safety Council’s mission is to promote and enhance comprehensive and pro-active safety initiatives and programs in preventing accidents and incidents. The industry is rapidly expanding their portfolio of cutting-edge safety programs, and the Safety Council provides a forum where the industry’s chief safety officers meet for briefings on these latest safety advancements and to share best practices.”
