Hilton Head, S.C. (Nov. 8, 2011) — Michelin North America was honored with a 2011 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Award at a ceremony last week at the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) Fall Product Support Conference. Michelin Aircraft Tire Company was a PBL Component-Level Award recipient for supplying tires to the U.S. Navy.

“This award from the Secretary of Defense demonstrates Michelin's expertise, reliability and commitment to supporting our Navy’s mobility requirements,” said Pete Selleck, chairman and president of Michelin North America. “The men and women of the U.S. military make great sacrifices to serve our country. At Michelin, it is our privilege to serve them in return through our 'right-tire, on-time' efforts.”

In addition to the PBL Award, Michelin Aircraft Tire Company and Michelin Americas Truck Tires have both been recognized before with eight consecutive Best Value Awards from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). In 2011, Michelin was among a group of only 182 companies — out of more than 7,000 military parts suppliers — that were recognized by the DLA for meeting performance requirements in the Automated Best Value System.
