TSA To Expand Test For Faster Airport Security

Pistole: Small test program has been successful

WASHINGTON (AP) — Transportation Security Administrator John Pistole says a small test program that pre-screens some travelers who volunteer extra information about themselves in exchange for swifter trips through airport security has so far been successful.

Pistole says his agency plans to expand the program to another round of airports and airlines for further testing.

Pistole was speaking to lawmakers on Capitol Hill just weeks before the busy Thanksgiving travel season.

The TSA began testing its pre-check program in October with a small number of travelers at airports in Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit and Miami.

Pistole says the agency is currently deciding which airports will be included in the next round of testing.
