FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 25, 2011) – Sheltair, a nationally recognized network of fixed base operations (FBOs) and airport properties, recently welcomed the most environmentally friendly carrier in the U.S., Spirit Airlines, as a tenant at its Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport location.

Spirit Airlines’ new, 10,317 square-foot professional learning center serves as the training location for employees throughout Spirit’s system. The facility was built to tenant specifications by Holland Builders, a Sheltair company, and was designed specifically for new hire and recurrent training.

Sheltair CEO Jerry Holland said, “We are thrilled that our location was chosen as home to Spirit’s new learning center. Sheltair values customer service and safety above all else, and I’m glad that so many Spirit Airlines professionals will learn how to excel at both of those important aspects of the aviation industry right here on our Fort Lauderdale campus.”

The professional learning center features eight classrooms with seating capacity ranging from 16 to 62 trainees, including computer-based training courses and pilot mock-up devices, as well as a break room, uniform center and instructor work center. In addition, a mock-up room houses aircraft door training devices, emergency rafts, and fire extinguishing training equipment for flight attendant and pilot training.
