Ground Handling International Magazine chose Geovanni Reyes, a fueling agent at ASIG's operation at Nashville International Airport, as the Industry Hero for North America.

Orlando … ASIG®, an industry leader in aviation services, announced that Geovanni Reyes, a fueling agent at ASIG’s Nashville International Airport (BNA) operation, has been named an Industry Hero for North America, by Ground Handling International magazine as part of their annual Ramp Safety Awards program. Ground Handling International is one of the industry’s leading publications for commercial aviation services with a readership of over 39,000 industry representatives.

Earlier this year, while fueling a cargo flight, Geovanni noticed a nearby tractor-trailer on fire. He immediately discontinued his fueling operations, secured a fire extinguisher and attempted to put out the flames. He eventually rolled under the truck and successfully put out the fire. In reflecting upon the incident, Geovanni credited the training he had received from ASIG.

Geovanni’s extraordinary actions were selected from among numerous entries submitted by service providers across the region. Over 200 industry representatives voted on the regional winners.

Keith P. Ryan, President & CEO said, “In our industry, safety and training are paramount. Geovanni’s adherence to ASIG safety procedures and his willingness to go above and beyond are to be commended. He quickly diffused what could easily have turned into a very dangerous situation. We encourage all employees to be aware on the ramp at all times in order to ensure a safer workplace for the entire airport community.”
