Atec, Inc., was honored by the Defense Supply Center Richmond as one of the government's best suppliers at the Automated Best Value System award ceremony held during the DSCR's annual business conference.

Atec, Inc. is a small, woman owned business located in Houston, TX that has served the U.S. DoD with aircraft and engine support equipment for 50 years.

Chris Anderson, an Atec Development Engineer, accepted the gold medal from the Commander of the Supply Center, Navy Rear Adm. Mark Heinrich, and the Vice Director of the Defense Logistics Agency, Major General Loren M. Reno, U.S. Air Force.

Firms that qualify as Best Value System Medallists have met stringent quality and delivery requirements established by the Defense Logistics Agency. The Best Value system collects a vendor's past performance data and translates it into a numeric score, ranging from zero to 100.

To be eligible, vendors must have shipped 10 or more contract lines for DSCR during a 12-month rating period. To qualify for a Gold medal, a contractor must have a score of 100. Those who receive a score of 99.0 to 99.9 earn a silver award. Vendors with scores ranging from 98.0 to 98.9 earn a bronze medal. In addition, vendors must have a DLA rating of 95 or better.

Atec designs, builds and installs complete engine test cells and hush houses for all engines types: vectored thrust military applications, high-bypass turbofans, turboshafts, and turboprops. Atec specializes in test cell modifications and upgrades including the support equipment required for testing: thrust stands, engine adapters, bellmouths, data acquisition/engine control systems, engine assembly platforms, and acoustic enclosures. Atec maintains a registered ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100:2004 Rev. B quality system.

In 2005, DSCR had 3.6 billion dollars in sales and provides the best value logistics and contract management support to America's armed forces in peace and war – around the clock and around the world.
