Willy Hallauer has been named President & CEO of Swissport South Africa, with responsibility for the entire Africa region. He will take up his new post at the end of January. Hallauer succeeds Jeroen de Clercq, who will get another assignment within the Swissport group.

Willy Hallauer is to assume overall management of Swissport South Africa (including all Ground Handling and Cargo Services) and for Ground Handling in the entire Africa & Middle East business region. Hallauer can draw on extensive experience of the region for his new duties through his previous position as Executive Vice President Africa & Middle East. He has also served as CEO of Swissport Zurich, and has been in charge of various key outsourcing projects.

Jeroen de Clercq will take over new responsibilities within the group. More details about his new function and role will be communicated at a later stage. Already by today, Swissport thanks him for all his efforts and commitments over the past few years, previously as Country Manager in Kenya and in his most recent role as CEO for South Africa.

On Willy Hallauer’s short-term agenda is not only the review of the current processes and structures but also a clear commitment to further invest in new Ground Support Equipment. All these measures should result in a further improvement of quality delivery with substantial benefits for all Swissport customers.

Swissport’s presence in Africa (15 destinations in 6 countries) represents a remarkable value to the group. In addition to the well established activities in South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, Tanzania and Kenya, Swissport’s African business operations will be extended to North Africa at the end of this month when, following successful contractual negotiations, Swissport Algeria commences handling for its first airline customers.
