Aerospace systems designer Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., said Wednesday it has been selected to provide auxiliary power units for Lufthansa's fleet of 30 new Airbus aircraft.
Financial details were not disclosed.
Hamilton Sundstrand said deliveries of the APS 3200 APUs will begin later this year. Auxiliary power units provide power to aircraft while they are on the ground and backup power while in flight.
The company has also extended several existing maintenance support agreements with Lufthansa Technik until 2016.
With the future deliveries, Lufthansa, Europe's largest airline, will operate four different models of Hamilton Sundstrand APUs.
Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems is based in San Diego, Calif.
