Zurich/Chicago, Oct. 31, 2008 — Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of airport services, has assumed responsibility via its Swissport Fueling Services subsidiary for all into-plane fueling for Southwest Airlines at the carrier’s Chicago Midway hub. The extensive agreement, which has been concluded for a three-year period, covers 225 flights a day.

Swissport now provides all the into-plane fueling services required by Southwest Airlines at the carrier’s second-most-important destination, Chicago Midway Airport, through its Swissport Fueling Services subsidiary. Swissport Fueling Services assumed responsibility for these operations on Oct. 15. Swissport is delighted to extend its services for Southwest Airlines to the carrier’s Chicago Midway hub: the partners already work together at six other major US airports, and both welcome the extended collaboration.

“It’s a tribute to a customer’s confidence in us that they entrust the fueling of 225 of their flights a day to our care for a three-year period,” says Stan Livingston, CEO of Swissport Fueling Services. “But it’s a challenge and a commitment on our part, too — a commitment to continuing to serve Southwest Airlines with an optimum-quality product.” Swissport Fueling Services will conduct the new operation with a workforce of some 50 personnel and over 35 vehicles and further equipment items with a total tank volume of more than 100 million gallons of fuel a year.
