Zurich/Tokyo, Aug. 23, 2010 – Swissport International is pleased with the acquisition of two important contracts at the Tokyo-Narita Airport. Both Cathay Pacific and Turkish Airlines have handed over their ground service contracts to Swissport. The large volume of these contracts and the fact that this airport is the most important and biggest in Japan, has enabled Swissport to establish itself within the market for the present and for future business ventures.
Swissport Japan and its local partner Marubeni have been completing the ground services for the four Japanese airports Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo since 2007. Approximately 290 employees serve over 20 international airlines with services mainly in the areas of passenger handling, ramp and maintenance.
In the very competitive market at the airport of Tokyo-Narita, Swissport has managed to gain recognition and achieve success within the marketplace. As of Oct. 1, 2010, Cathay Pacific will hand over their ground services to Swissport, and at the end of October, Turkish Airlines will also hand over their complete process of passenger handling to Swissport. Acquiring these two contracts may be seen as a milestone in the young history of the business. For the new long-term contracts 80 additional employees will need to be recruited.

The customers also appear to be pleased with this development. Mr. P.L. Ching, Manager of Contracts and Services at Cathay Pacific Airways was quoted as saying: “We are looking forward to working together with Swissport to deliver the high standard of service that we and our passengers in Narita expect."
