FAA Clears Extension of Philadelphia Int'l Airport Runway
Airport officials and the federal agency already are in the early stages of such a study, as part of a long-range plan.
That master plan envisions that the airport could build, besides the Runway 17-35 extension, a new runway parallel to the river. Another idea under consideration is to tear up the airfield and part of the existing terminal, and realign both existing east-west runways, placing one on either side of the terminal.
