W.Va. Man Arrested for Loaded Gun in Carry-On Bag
Security at Logan Airport in Boston, Mass. discovered the loaded gun packed in a carry-on bag, police said.
BOSTON (AP) -- A West Virginia psychiatrist faced charges after he was arrested over the weekend when security at Logan Airport discovered a loaded gun packed in one of his carry-on bags, police said.
Deleno H. Webb III, 65, of Huntington, W. Va., was arrested Saturday afternoon while on his way to catch a Delta Air Lines fight home, police said. He was released on $500 bail, and was to be arraigned Monday in East Boston District Court on charges including possession of an unlicensed handgun, and carrying a weapon in a secured area of the airport.
Police said that when Webb put his backpack through an X-ray machine in Terminal A about 2:50 p.m. Saturday, the machine's operator saw the outline of the handgun and alerted State Police, who later identified the weapon as a .380-caliber Smith & Wesson. Police said the gun had one bullet in the chamber and seven more in the magazine.
