Independence Air Puts Ticket Where Luggage Is
When a passenger loses luggage on an Indepence Air flight, the airline will pay for a one-way ticket for the passenger's woes.
Lose any luggage while flying on an Independence Air flight?
If so, you can expect the airline to pay for a one-way ticket for your trouble. For the rest of the year, passengers who can't find their checked bags when they reach their destinations will receive one-way airfare when they file claims for their luggage.
Passengers will receive a credit in the amount of the airfare for the flight on which the luggage was misplaced. The airline is offering the free airfare on top of its routine search for misplaced bags and reimbursement for lost luggage.
Independence Air, which offers seven flights a day from Metro Airport to its hub at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., ranks high for handling luggage. In February, Independence Air lost about three bags for every 1,000 passengers, ranking third among domestic carriers, according to a monthly report by the Department of Transportation.
