Olathe Council Approves Subdivision in Flight Path of Airport
The airport is about one mile from the proposed Links of Prairie Highlands development, which would be located on the southwest corner of 143rd Street and Cedar Niles Circle.
With the City Council's support, plans to build a subdivision in the flight path of New Century AirCenter will go before the county.
The airport is about one mile from the proposed Links of Prairie Highlands development, which would be located on the southwest corner of 143rd Street and Cedar Niles Circle.
Links of Prairie Highlands is proposed for land the county has reserved for multi-acre estates. This development would have higher density, with plans calling for 103 homes on 39.7 acres.
The Olathe City Council approved the plans Tuesday, but because of the project's proximity to the airport, the county has the final say on rezoning the land.
Developers reduced the density of the proposal from 124 homes and answered several other concerns in May at the request of the Olathe Planning Commission. That body voted 4-1 with one abstention, recommending approval of the plans.
