ATLANTA (AP) -- Amid heightened security, a suspicious package at MARTA's airport station temporarily stopped commuter train service Friday morning into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The report came at 7:30 a.m. Friday, said MARTA's spokeswoman Jocelyn Baker. The GBI and MARTA police were called in to examine the package.

''While that was being done, train service was suspended going into the airport station,'' Baker says. ''We ran bus bridges from the College Park station to the airport station to accommodate our customers.''

Police examined the package and determined it posed no threat. Train service into the airport was resumed a short time later.

Since Thursday's bombings in London, security on Atlanta's trains has been increased to include heavily armed police and bomb-sniffing dogs.
