Indianapolis International Airport Security Director Killed in Car Accident

FRISCO, Colo. (AP) -- A former Secret Service agent who had served on the protective details of presidents Reagan and Carter and was the top security director at Indianapolis International Airport died in a car accident while vacationing in Colorado.

Dick Suekawa died Tuesday evening when his car veered into the center median on Interstate 70 and rolled twice near Frisco, 67 miles west of Denver, Colorado State Patrol spokesman Eric Wynn said Wednesday.

Suekawa died of massive head injuries, TSA spokeswoman Deirdre O'Sullivan said. His wife, Pat, who was with him, suffered a broken arm.

Suekawa, a Secret Service agent for 27 years, was named Federal Security Director at the Indianapolis airport in July 2002.
