PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- One of the main concourses at Portland International Airport was closed briefly Saturday when two airline passengers got through a checkpoint before they were fully screened by security workers.

Concourse C was closed for about half an hour beginning at 5:30 a.m. while the two passengers were brought back to the main security area and screened again, along with all the other passengers in the concourse, said Steve Johnson, spokesman for the Port of Portland.

''Any time you have a lapse of time when they (passengers) are out of sight you have to take extra precautions to make sure nothing got into that area that shouldn't be there,'' Johnson said.

Transportation Security Administration workers said it was just a mistake by the two passengers and not an attempt to avoid the full screening.
