Congressman Henry Brown today received notification that Myrtle Beach International Airport has been awarded a discretionary grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for $1,284,800.

This grant will be used for continued rehabilitation of one of the airport's primary runways, Taxiway J.

"Myrtle Beach International Airport has continued to show impressive growth numbers and I am pleased to see these funds directed for maintenance of their infrastructure," Brown said. "As this airport grows, this money will help make sure they have the facilities necessary to keep up with demand."

"This is very, very good news," said airport director Robert Kemp. "Our Congressional delegation is a critical element in the success of these grants applications. We are most appreciative of their efforts on our behalf."
