AirTran Airways and Intl Brotherhood of Teamsters Announce Agreement

AirTran Airways and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement covering AirTran Airways' aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors.

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, asubsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 528 ("IBT") today announced that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement covering AirTran Airways' aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors. The tentative agreement, reached over the Labor Day weekend, becomes effectiveOctober 1, 2005, which is the amendable date of the current agreement.

The 48 month agreement is subject to membership ratification, which isunderway and expected within three weeks. The agreement has the fullendorsement of the Union's negotiating committee.

Local 528 of the IBT represents approximately 450 AirTran Airways employees, which includes 300 aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors.Local 528 first began representing AirTran Airways Crew Members in 1997.
