TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated announced today that it has signed a long-term lease with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) to redevelop an existing 100,000 square foot hangar located in the North Business Aviation Area of Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The hangar is located near Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated's existing fixed-base operation (FBO) at Toronto Pearson, bringing the company's total hangar space to 220,000 square feet. After redevelopment, the facility will offer a total of 90,000 square feet of office space, including lounges and work areas.

"Remodeling at Toronto is underway on the 8,000 square foot flight lounge that is part of this facility expansion," said Andrew Storey, Toronto General Manager of Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated. "The flight lounge will complement our existing customer lounge areas. This lounge will be dedicated to high-profile individuals and corporations that request special customer service for privacy or high security needs."

The flight lounge will be available in January 2006. The hangar and associated ramp will be available to customers next spring.

"Our Toronto ramp currently supports all airplane sizes, including large air transport aircraft," Storey said.

The lease between Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated and the GTAA represents a significant increase in revenue for the North Business Aviation Area at Toronto Pearson.

"The GTAA is pleased by the opportunity to bring additional business to Toronto Pearson, and supports Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated's expansion at the country's busiest airport," says John Kaldeway, President and Chief Executive Officer of the GTAA. "The signing of this long term lease is yet another example of the key role the GTAA plays in the economic development of the Greater Toronto Area, and how we help to make the region work."
