More than 20 baggage handlers at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport have been taken into custody in an investigation into a suspected theft network, police said Wednesday.
The 22 people rounded up Tuesday are suspected of taking part in a network that stole personal objects from out of passengers' bags, police said.
A court in Bobigny, north of Paris, opened an investigation in November based on investigators' estimates that more than 1,000 objects had gone missing in the preceding months.
The suspects can be held up to 96 hours without charges.
