Concord Airport Chief Wins FAA Award

Concord Aviation Director Dick Lewis has been named the 2005 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the FAA's Southern Region Airports Division.

Concord Aviation Director Dick Lewis has been named the 2005 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year by the FAA's Southern Region Airports Division. Lewis runs the Concord Regional Airport, the state's fourth-busiest, and has overseen the expansion of its runway. About 60 percent of the airport's business is NASCAR-related.The FAA award is presented to an airport director who demonstrates outstanding leadership.

Lewis was named the airport's interim director in March 2002 and became its director about a year later. -- Adam Bell
