ATA Airlines and its 200 flight technicians have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract, both sides said Friday.
Union and airline officials declined to comment on the details of the deal with the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association.
"We're pleased this agreement has been reached and we're hopeful that it will be ratified," said ATA spokeswoman Michelle Foley.
If approved, the agreement would end more than three years of negotiation and be the first contract for the airline's technicians who are represented by the union.
Union spokesman Mark Taylor said no ratification date has been scheduled.
"We're staying flexible there," he said.
A union representing 1,000 flight attendants employed by the Indianapolis-based carrier approved a new three-year contract in November. About 800 pilots and flight engineers accepted a three-year agreement in September.
ATA Airlines and its parent company ATA Holdings Corp. hope to end their federal bankruptcy protection by Feb. 28.
ATA, once the nation's 10th-largest carrier before filing for Chapter 11 protection in October 2004, has cut its work force by half and canceled flights to nearly a dozen cities.
