Airport Delays Expected in Greece as Baggage Screeners Call Strike

On Friday, dozens of flights were delayed for more than an hour after screeners started a strike which abruptly ended after court declared the protest illegal.

ATHENS, Greece_Flight delays are expected at Greece's two main airports later Saturday, after baggage screeners called a strike to protest management changes, authorities said.

The 24-hour strike is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. (0900 GMT) at Athens International Airport and Thessaloniki Airport, in northern Greece. Only emergency staff are due to work.

On Friday, dozens of flights were delayed for more than an hour after screeners started a strike which abruptly ended after court declared the protest illegal.

They were to relaunch the protest on Saturday, to evade legal action and press demands for job guarantees after management passed to a different private company.
