Air Canada Expands its Network to Diamond Capital of North America

Air Canada Jazz will begin daily non-stop service to Yellowknife from Edmonton on July 3rd and from Calgary on July 4th.

Air Canada today announced that it will expand its network with the start up of two new, daily non-stop services to Yellowknife, NWT, the diamond capital of North America and gateway to Canada's north.

Air Canada Jazz will begin daily non-stop service to Yellowknife from Edmonton on July 3rd and from Calgary on July 4th. The airline will also launch daily, non-stop service on August 1st on the following new routes: Edmonton-Victoria, BC; Calgary-Comox, BC; Edmonton-Kelowna, BC and Winnipeg- London, ON. Tickets are now available for purchase at aircanada.com or through travel agents.

"The introduction of non-stop flights from both Edmonton and Calgary to Yellowknife links the vibrant and growing economy of Canada's north to Air Canada's global network with convenient connections to points across our extensive network," said Ben Smith, Air Canada's vice president responsible for network planning at Air Canada and Jazz. "The start-up of all our new routes across western Canada is great news for business and leisure travellers alike. Through Air Canada's growing range of multi-trip Flight Passes, we are offering our customers an innovative way of purchasing air travel across our expanding North American network with unprecedented freedom, ease and flexibility."

Destinations are eligible for travel through Air Canada's multi-trip Flight Passes. These new flights will be operated by Air Canada Jazz with made- in-Canada, all-leather seat Bombardier CRJ-200 regional jet aircraft. The 50-seat CRJ aircraft has a cruising speed of 780 km/h and a range of up to 2,100 km. Air Canada Jazz operates a fleet of 53 CRJ-100/200s.

Yellowknife-Edmonton: Daily non-stop flights depart Edmonton at 20:20, arriving in Yellowknife at 22:05. Daily non-stop flights depart Yellowknife at 15:00, arriving in Edmonton at 16:40. The schedule is timed for convenient connections in Edmonton to and from Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Calgary and Vancouver.

Yellowknife-Calgary: The only daily non-stop flights, departing Calgary at 12:15, arriving in Yellowknife at 14:25; departing Yellowknife at 09:05, arriving in Calgary at 11:10. The schedule is timed for convenient connections in Calgary to and from points across Canada and the USA.

Edmonton-Kelowna: Twice daily non-stop flights depart Edmonton at 06:50 (arriving in Kelowna at 07:02) and at 17:25 (arriving in Kelowna at 17:37). Twice daily non-stop flights depart Kelowna at 07:35 (arriving in Edmonton at 09:42), and at 18:10 (arriving in Edmonton at 20:17). Schedules are timed for convenient connections in Edmonton to and from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray.

Edmonton-Victoria: Daily non-stop flights depart Edmonton at 08:00, arriving in Victoria at 08:40. Daily non-stop flights depart Victoria at 09:10, arriving in Edmonton at 11:39. Schedules are timed to offer convenient connections in Edmonton to and from Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie.

Calgary-Comox: Daily non-stop flights departing Calgary at 11:50, arriving in Comox at 12:20. Daily non-stop flights depart Comox at 12:50, arriving in Calgary at 15:10. Schedules are timed to offer convenient connections in Calgary to and from points across Canada.

Winnipeg-London, ON: Daily non-stop flights depart Winnipeg at 12:35, arriving in London at 16:05. Daily non-stop flights depart London at 16:40, arriving in Winnipeg at 18:10, with convenient connections in Winnipeg to and from points across western Canada.

Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz have proudly served western Canada longer than any other carrier. Together they operate more non-stop flights within Canada and to the United States than any other airline. Within Canada, the carriers will operate this summer more than 1066 non-stop flights per day on 130 routes to and from 60 Canadian airports. Between Canada and the United States, the carriers operate more than 416 non-stop flights per day on 76 routes to and from 48 U.S. and 7 Canadian destinations.
