Philadelphia Airport Briefly Evacuated

About 1,000 people were told to leave while a police bomb squad was brought in to investigate.

Philadelphia International Airport was partially evacuated for about an hour Sunday morning because of a suspicious package, authorities said.

The bag was found around 8 a.m. behind a ticket counter near terminals B and C, officials said.

About 1,000 people were told to leave while a police bomb squad was brought in to investigate, airport spokesman Mark Pesce said.

The package turned out not to be dangerous, and travelers were allowed back in about an hour later, Pesce said.
