The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that Arthur J. Meinke has been named Federal Security Director (FSD) at George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and James L. Marchand has been named FSD for William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). As FSDs, Meinke and Marchand will oversee all TSA security operations at Houston's airports.
"Art and Jim will be tremendous assets at their new posts," said Michael J. Restovich, TSA Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. "Both Art and Jim have been instrumental in guiding TSA from being a start-up agency to a sustainable and dynamic organization and we are pleased that they will lead Bush Intercontinental and Hobby into the future."
Meinke joined TSA in 2003 and served as the FSD at Orlando (Fla.) International Airport where he was responsible for Screening Operations, Regulatory, Law Enforcement and Administration and managed more than 1,000 employees. Prior to joining TSA, Meinke worked for 17 years in the aviation industry with major airlines both in the United States and abroad.
Marchand joined TSA as Deputy FSD at Bush Intercontinental on July 29, 2002 and was appointed FSD there in November 2003. Marchand was on-board when the first Transportation Security Officers were hired, sworn in, and trained. His work at TSA follows a distinguished 31-year career with the United States Air Force.
Meinke and Marchand will report to their new positions at the end of the summer.
