The service will give Buffalo customers a one-stop connection to 21 international destinations.

Delta Air Lines, one of the world's largest and fastest growing airlines, is expanding its direct flights from Buffalo to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

In addition to the four daily flights currently between the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and JFK, two more non-stop flights will be added Sept. 6.

One flight will run seven days a week. The other flight will run Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

The service will give Buffalo customers a one-stop connection to 21 international destinations, the company said.

"It does provide people from Western New York the opportunity to connect to the Delta international network," said Lawrence M. Meckler, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority executive director. "It is a big boost not only for people flying to New York City, but also around the world."

Delta began offering the four daily flights between Buffalo and JFK in June. The 75-minute flights depart from Buffalo as early as 6:05 a.m. and as late as 7:55 p.m.

Delta joins three other airlines who have recently increased service at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

TransAir, Southwest Airlines and JetBlue all recently began offering more direct flights from Buffalo to major cities across the nation.

The NFTA said it is working with most of the existing carriers to increase direct flights from Buffalo. Currently, the Buffalo Niagara airport has approximately 118 daily outbound flights, Meckler said.
