Albany will be among two dozen airports nationwide with the new security lanes

One of the two companies seeking to operate the registered traveler program at Albany International Airport has received Transportation Security Administration approval to provide the service in a national rollout.

Verified Identity Pass Inc. said Monday it had met TSA standards for providing the service, which is intended to speed frequent travelers through airport security checkpoints. Travelers would pay an annual fee, undergo background checks and carry cards with biometric information that would permit them to use dedicated lanes.

Albany will be among two dozen airports nationwide with the new security lanes.
