Bangor Old Town Council Approves Airport Buys

Dec. 7, 2006
The purchase includes a small and large seaplane dolly, waste oil furnace, and security system.

Until a new operator for the Old Town Airport is selected, the council authorized the city on Monday to purchase $26,000 worth of equipment from former operator Old Town Aviation.

The cost to the city for the equipment will be $10,000, with the remainder to be paid for through a credit to the city for rent, fuel and other debts the former operator owes to the city.

"We did the same thing when the previous FBO [fixed base operator] left," Public Works Director David Wight said Monday.

The purchase includes a small and large seaplane dolly, waste oil furnace, and security system.

"This equipment is needed for the operations at the airport and can be sold to the next FBO when one is selected," Wight and City Manager Peggy Daigle wrote in a memo to the council. "In the meantime, the city can charge a fee for use of some of the equipment such as the dollys or tugs."

Also at Monday's meeting, newly elected councilors Alan Stormann and Jamie Dufour and school board incumbents Victoria Dupuis and David Wollstadt were sworn in, all with terms to expire Dec. 1, 2007.
