First Choice Says It Ordered Two New Boeing 787-8s

As of Dec. 5, Boeing had received 458 orders and commitments for the 787.

First Choice Holidays PLC, a British tour operator, said Thursday it ordered two new Boeing Co. 787-8 "Dreamliners" with deliveries beginning in 2011. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

First Choice, the European launch customer for the 787, placed its first order for six 787s in July 2004. The company now has eight 787s on order. Boeing will deliver First Choice's first 787 in the first quarter of 2009.

"From a business perspective, the 20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency will benefit our bottom line and facilitate our growth into new markets," said Chris Browne, managing director of First Choice Airways.

As of Dec. 5, Boeing had received 458 orders and commitments for the 787.

First Choice shares rose 3.6 percent to 273.37 pence (US$5.39; euro4.05) on the London Stock Exchange.
