Baltimore Airport Leads Use-It-Again Trend

The airport recycled 27 percent of all its trash in 2006, according to airport figures. In 2003, its recycling rate was less than 8 percent.


But while airlines could do more to recycle, the responsibility ultimately rests with their landlords - the airports, Mr. Hershkowitz said.

"It's not the airlines' fault; it's the airport's obligation," he said. "We want the airlines to put pressure on the airports that they land at to develop a recycling structure the way [BWI and other airports] have."
