London's City Airport Runway Closed After Plane's Tires Burst

Feb. 20, 2007

The runway at London's City Airport was closed Tuesday after a plane's tires burst on landing, airport officials said. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, the airport said a flight from Paris' Orly airport operated by Air France subsidiary CityJet burst its tires as it landed at about 8:35 a.m. (0835 GMT). The plane, which was carrying 55 passengers, did not leave the runway.

The runway at the airport, which mostly handles short-haul commuter flights to Europe, was closed until further notice.
