Indonesia to Allow Two Airlines to Resume Operations

Lorena Air and Linus Airways have made much progress to meet the standards set by the government for airlines to serve domestic and international routes.

The transport ministry has decided to allow two airlines to resume operations after being suspended in February last year.

Lorena Air and Linus Airways have made much progress to meet the standards set by the government for airlines to serve domestic and international routes, Air Transport Director Tri Suriadjie Sunoko said.

The two airlines will use new aircraft and are currently holding negotiations with lessors abroad, Sunoko said.

Lorena Air has reported that it will use at least three aircraft from Spain, he said.

The transport ministry suspended the operation of nine airlines since March, 2005 for failing to meet the minimum standards set by the government.
