United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAUA) and Aloha Airlines have signed a formal agreement that is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two carriers in the Hawaii and transpacific markets.

United said that under the agreement the two carriers will broaden their cooperation to achieve mutual benefits in the areas of marketing, expense reduction and operating efficiencies. Additionally, the two airlines have been working on a wide variety of initiatives since the signing of a letter of intent on 3 May 2007.
