BRIEF: Rectrix acquires former airport facility at Sarasota Bradenton International

July 10, 2007

Jul. 9--MANATEE -- Construction on a new $20 million jetport owned by Rectrix Aerodrome Centers, Inc. is entering its final phase at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, officials said.

In a recent transaction, Rectrix paid the airport authority more than $1.8 million to acquire its former maintenance buildings and land. SRQ will use the proceeds to finance airport improvement projects.

The transaction also clears the way for the demolition of the aged structures. The company plans to replace them with four new hangars and offer them for sale.

The 22-acre development going up at 8250 15th St. E., across from the Sarasota-Bradenton Convention Center, will offer leased aircraft hangars for large aircraft, luxury passenger facilities, and 24-hour line services for aircraft operators. When construction is complete at year's end, the project will entail about 110,000 square feet of new facilities, according to company spokesman Bill Weibrecht.
