DeLong, 1st DIA manager, takes D.C. law firm job

James DeLong, Denver International Airport's first manager, has been named special counsel and chairman of Kamlet Shepherd & Reichert's intellectual property practice in Washington, D.C.

DeLong most recently served as senior fellow at the Progress & Freedom Foundation after a similar stint at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

In his new role, DeLong will focus on patent, copyright, antitrust and intellectual property issues for Kamlet Shepherd, a Denver-based law firm with more than 40 attorneys.

DeLong took the reins of DIA in 1993, just 10 months before the controversial airport was scheduled to open.

DeLong left DIA in 1998 for a new position as head of the Louisville, Ky., airport.
