US Airways names Robert Isom EVP and COO and announces VP appointments

Robert Isom has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of US Airways (NYSE:LCC), effective immediately, and reporting to US Airways president Scott Kirby in his role of chief operating officer.

US Airways said Isom will head its operations, including flight operations, in-flight services, maintenance and engineering, airport customer service, reservations, cargo and the Express operation.

Isom served most recently as chief restructuring officer at GMAC LLC, and before that as SVP, ground operations and airport customer service for Northwest Airlines. He served as vice president, international for Northwest Airlines and also held senior executive roles with the former America West Airlines between 1995 and 2000.

In addition, the airline named Daniel Pon to the position of VP, human resources, reporting to Elise Eberwein, senior vice president people, communications and culture, having served most recently as VP, global compensation and benefits, for Sanmina-SCI of San Jose, California.

The company also announced that Kerry Hester will join as VP, customer service planning, later this month, after serving most recently as managing director at Northwest Airlines.

Anthony V. Mule, senior vice president, customer service, also announced his plans to retire following a 35 year career in the aviation industry, which also included positions at American Airlines, Pan American and America West.
