Northwest Airlines to complete 100th interline e-ticketing agreement

Sept. 11, 2007

Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA) has announced it is completing a 100th interline electronic ticket agreement and could be the first airline in the world to implement its 100th e-ticket accord, from as soon as next week.

The airline has 95 interline e-ticket agreements, which enable tickets to be booked and amended online, along with self service check-in, in place. It has implemented e-ticket programmes for 99.9% of all interline ticketing within the US and 99.2% with its international partners, helping to reduce paper waste within the travel industry.

Northwest Airlines supports the aim of International Air Transport Associations (IATA) to end all paper ticketing by June next year.
