BART doubles parking for Thanksgiving weekend

Nov. 19, 2007

BART has doubled the amount of airport and long-term parking spaces for Thanksgiving and urges motorists to reserve permits online.

A total of 1,640 spaces will be available from Wednesday through next Monday, Nov. 26.

The permits enable motorists to leave vehicles at stations longer than the 24-hour limit without risk of a $100 citation.

Airport and long-term spaces are available at $5 per day at all East Bay stations with parking lots, excluding the West Oakland, Coliseum-Oakland Airport and Lake Merritt stations. Airport and long-term parking also will be available at the Colma, South San Francisco, San Bruno and Millbrae stations at $6 per day.

Permits are available at http://www.BART.gov/parking . First-time customers can learn how to buy a permit by watching a video on BARTtv News at http://www.BART.gov/news/BARTtv .

For guaranteed parking in airport and long-term spaces, customers must arrive before 10 a.m., after which customers must park at any available space.

Friday will be considered a weekday and all parking regulations will be enforced. Vehicles parked over the four-day weekend without permits will be subject to citations.
