SINGAPORE -- At Aviation Week's eighth annual Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Asia 2008 Conference & Exhibition on October 14-16, 2008, in the Singapore SUNTEC International Conference & Exhibition Centre, S. Iswaran, Senior Minister for Trade and Industry in Singapore, the largest MRO center in the Asia-Pacific region, will share perspectives on aerospace and defense (A&D). More than 1,500 top airline and government officials and maintenance and safety experts will gain insights, examine best practices, and network in educational sessions and a sold-out exhibition hall, which will host over 100 companies representing the MRO product and services suppliers from all over Asia and around the globe.
The conference, themed "Tailoring Solutions to Control Costs: The Road Ahead," will address issues that emerge when industry grows faster than infrastructure and identify the best ways to meet MRO outsourcing opportunities pouring into Asia from Europe and the U.S. Industry forecasts, M&A insights, case studies, and benchmarking tools are among the tangible takeaways attendees will learn to apply for better efficiency, safety, and ROI. Attendees can demo new technologies and learn practical lessons from Singapore Airlines and others regarding maintenance and operations for new aircraft models, including the Airbus A380. Aviation Week will also present its MRO Asia excellence awards.
One quarter of Asia's MRO activities are based in Singapore, and in the past decade, its aerospace sector has enjoyed an annual compound growth of 12 percent, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization.
"Singapore's A&D industry is at an important point," said Tom Henricks, president of Aviation Week. "As our recent Top-Performing Companies study noted, Singapore Airlines is the top-performing airline in the world; and the Singapore Air Show is the third largest in the world. Global and western companies are increasingly planning deeper investments with Asian A&D partners. MRO Asia will bring together the top suppliers and executives in the region, and we are honored that Mr. Iswaran will be among our guests."
