Eclipse Worker Offers Help On Web

One former Eclipse Aviation worker is trying to help his former co-workers by putting all the information about their layoffs into one place.

He's started a Web site with everything he thinks people need to know.

"I'm just a grunt, an engineer, but I had a Web site I could set up, so I set it up for people," said the site's designer Brian Turner.

The Web site is a pet project of former Eclipse Engineer Brian Turner.

After speaking with co-workers, he saw a need.

"They don't know what's going on, they don't know where to turn," he said.

Former co-worker Paul Burns says there is a wide range of people who need information on what to do now.

"It ranges from those who are relatively lucky like me, to those that are really in a bind with families and no other source of income," Burns said.

The top of the site has information about what laid off workers need to do: file for unemployment, keep a pay stub, the simple stuff.

But it also has information specific to Eclipse workers for 401ks, Pay-Flex accounts, and how to get more medical and dental insurance.

"I'm calling the different providers and find out what's happening and putting that information on the website so other people have a common source of information to go to," said Turner.

It's one stop shopping for those now unemployed from someone in the same boat doing all the legwork.

The site leaves job seekers like Burns able to actually look for a job, rather than track down information from a former employer.

Turner said he'll keep updating the site as we learn more information about the bankruptcy proceedings and as people show an interest in a specific topic.
