BIRMINGHAM, England , May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities, announced today that it has leased 75,000 square feet of recently completed distribution space near Heathrow International Airport in the United Kingdom to City Link, the UK's parcel delivery service and subsidiary of Rentokil Initial, one of the world's largest business services companies.
City Link's lease is for 100 percent of the space in a new facility at ProLogis Park Heathrow, a 294,000-square-foot distribution park located less than two miles from the airport. The company is consolidating and expanding from two other non-ProLogis facilities nearby, and will use the new building as its primary distribution center in West London .
"City Link had several facilities from which to choose in the Heathrow area and had been searching for some time," said Andrew Griffiths , managing director for ProLogis in the UK. "We are very pleased that they selected ProLogis, which we attribute to our first-class customer service and unique ability to quickly satisfy their specific warehousing requirements."
ProLogis will fit-out the building according to the customer's requirements for enhanced heating, lighting and security measures.
In addition to being located near one of the world's busiest international airports, ProLogis Park Heathrow is half a mile from the M4 motorway that links to the M25 (London Orbital), which is one of the world's biggest ring roads. Besides City Link, Heathrow Airport Limited occupies more than 56,000 square feet at the park.
ProLogis' UK distribution portfolio currently comprises 19.3 million square feet of industrial space owned or managed. Other major customers in the country include ASOS.com, Bosch-Siemens, The Co-operative Group, Debenhams, DHL, GEFCO, Honda Logistics, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's, Screwfix, Spec Savers and Superdrug.
